Who is MalluMoneyMustache?? – Introduction

I’m a Malayali(“Mallu”) living in Singapore. Born and brought up in Kerala.

I left Kerala (a state in India) when I was 17 years old. Moved to Singapore for higher studies and to pursue a career in Singapore.

I have completed my diploma in 2013 in Information Technology. and started working in the Banking and finance industry, in the same year.

I’ve learnt more about banking, insurance, and investing as a result of my professional and life experiences thus far.

When I reflect on what I’ve learned and how I’ve applied these concepts and services in real life, I understand I’m not using them to their best potential.

I also took a pulse check with my friends to see if they know how to take advantage of them; most of them were not, especially my friends from India.

As I dug deeper into why there is such a huge understanding gap, I discovered that it is because most of us were never taught how to manage our finances. You may have learnt that mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cells but are not sure how to file tax/to do a personal budget.

As personal finance topics like savings, debt, investments are so overlooked, I have decided to share what I learned and by doing so, break down some of the concepts in an easy to grasp manner.

Looking back, I wish if someone had sat down with me and explained these concepts at a much younger age. As the famous quote says –

“Sharing knowledge is the most fundamental act of friendship. Because it is a way you can give something without losing something.”

Richard Stallman

I’m trying to share what I have learnt so far and I’m trying to learn more, do correct me if I have misrepresented any facts or ideas by interacting in the comment.

This blog is more about the journey towards financial freedom. I’m still very far from achieving financial freedom and becoming financially independent. Are you are also exploring paths to financial independence?. These topics discussed and multiple findings may provide you with some information and insights.

As I cover the topics over time, if there are any burning questions or topics you wish to cover sooner, feel free to let me know too, I’ll try to focus on them as well.

I Sincerely hope to add some value to your financial journey and present to you the “MalluMoneyMustache” blog!
