Who is MalluMoneyMustache?? – Introduction

Hello! I’m a Malayali—commonly known as “Mallu”—currently residing in Singapore, though I was born and raised in Kerala, India.

At the age of 17, I left Kerala to pursue higher education and a career in Singapore. In 2013, I completed my diploma in Information Technology and began working in the banking and finance sector.

Over the years, my professional journey has provided me with valuable insights into banking, insurance, and investing. However, reflecting on my experiences, I realize that I haven’t always utilized these concepts to their fullest potential.

I also reached out to friends, particularly those from India, to gauge their understanding of financial management. To my surprise, many were unfamiliar with how to effectively manage their finances.

This gap in financial knowledge stems from the fact that financial literacy is rarely taught in school. While we might memorize that mitochondria are the powerhouse of cells, many of us struggle with practical financial tasks like filing taxes or creating a personal budget.

Given that personal finance topics such as saving, managing debt, and investing are often overlooked, I’ve decided to share my learnings and break down these concepts in an accessible manner.

Looking back, I wish someone had taken the time to explain these ideas to me at a younger age. As Richard Stallman aptly put it:

“Sharing knowledge is the most fundamental act of friendship. Because it is a way you can give something without losing something.”

I aim to share what I’ve learned so far and continue expanding my knowledge. If you notice any inaccuracies or have suggestions for improvement, please engage with me in the comments.

This blog chronicles my journey towards financial freedom. While I’m still on the path to achieving financial independence, I hope the topics and insights shared here can aid you in your own financial journey.

If there are specific questions or topics you’re eager to explore, let me know. I’ll do my best to address them.

Welcome to the “MalluMoneyMustache” blog! I sincerely hope it adds value to your financial journey.
